Casa grande de Fontei

The Casa Grande de Fontei is part of the group of Casas Grandes of A Rúa, being one of the most impressive. Many of these buildings have ostentatious coats of arms of the most important families of the municipality on their facades.

These types of buildings have some similarity with the pazos of Galicia, both are large buildings and have around them incredible gardens to stroll through. The house was built in 1809, after a huge fire that destroyed everything that had been there up to that time.

Embalse de San Martiño

The San Martiño Reservoir is considered a Point of Ecological Interest because the Cormorant, one of the best known migratory birds in A Rúa and coming from Great Britain, does not breed in this reservoir, but it does stop over. This bird nests in colonies, on cliffs or flat rocks and sometimes also in trees in the interior. It usually arrives at the reservoir in winter.
