About this stage
There are approximately 16 kilometres from Torremejía and Mérida. If you have stayed the night in Almendralejo you will have to walk approximately 30 kilometres. The Guadiana River will welcome you to the city founded by Augustus.
Recommendation Pilgrim
If you do not want to walk jumping between the parallel path and the national road, you can avoid the path, but always paying a lot of attention to the traffic and walking as together as possible. This stage does not pose any additional difficulties for cyclists or people with reduced mobility.

Itinerary
Km 0 – Inicio
You will leave Torremejía early to get to Mérida at noon and enjoy all the monuments and available places to visit. You will start walking through the national road, through a path that goes parallel to it and sometimes through the hard shoulder; you have to take into account that when you are walking through the hard shoulder you must be very careful. Approximately three kilometers after we will find a link to the motorway, but we will follow the path previously mentioned all the time. After crossing the railway, we will go on until entering a descendant path to Mérida, about seven kilometers away. Guadiana river will open the doors of this majestic city with centuries of history, entering by Paseo de Roma. Following this path and leaving the Lusitania bridge to one side, we will also find a sculpture representing Luperca, the she wolf that nursed and took care of Romulus and Remus. We will reach a roundabout and go on towards a children park, next to the pilgrims hostel. After leaving our bags we will get into the city to see its main touristic attractions, most of them related to the Roman Empire, such as the theater, amphitheater, Trajan arc…
