What to see
Arco de Jerez
The Arco de Jerez is the only gate that remains of the old wall that surrounded the city, although it has several other entrances. Its strategic position, between the kingdoms of Seville and Badajoz, motivated its construction, locating later in its upper part a chapel. This temple of great devotion is known as the Cristo de la Humildad y la Paciencia (Christ of Humility and Patience), dedicated to the Virgen de la Caridad (Virgin of Charity). From it leaves an important procession every Holy Wednesday.

Arco del Cubo
Also known as the Badajoz gate, this is the most important gate that the town of Zafra had. The arch was added later, specifically in the late seventeenth century, being in it represented the image of Santiago Matamoros, showing once again the close historical ties of this municipality with the Order of Santiago.

Arquillo del Pan

The structure itself is formed by a corridor in which stands the altarpiece of San Blas de Escobar, where the image of the Virgen de la Esperancita de Zafra is also venerated.

Casa del Ajímez

Between the 17th and 18th centuries, the building continued to serve the function of making medicinal preparations. However, over the years it served for the realization of many other activities, until it reached a great deterioration of its entire structure.

Colegiata de la Candelaria
The Collegiate Church of Candelaria was built during the sixteenth century by order of the third Count of Feria, in order to replace the old Christian center that was located in the Plaza Grande.
It is composed of a single nave, chapels in the buttresses and a raised choir. It also has a transept and an octagonal apse.

Convento de Santa Catalina
Founded in 1520, this convent consists of a group of houses donated by the Catholic Monarchs to their secretary, Hernando de Zafra. The space is distributed around several courtyards of the sixteenth century, among which stands out one that houses Hispano-Muslim and Christian ornamentation.
