Vía de la Plata: Stage 5

Yesterday you get to Monasterio through the national road and you will leave this village through the same road. You will leave the national road a little bit after, once you have crossed a football field. You will be walking among olive trees and finally getting to a stream called Dehesa after three kilometres. After crossing this stream you will walk through paths similar to the previous ones to finally get to the road that goes to Montemolín. You will have to cross it and continue straight forward through some paths. You will go through El Cerrillo where you will see for the first time the end of the stage that is located 10 kilometres form here. Then you will get to a stream called Bodión, once you get here you will have to walk up to get to Dehesa del Campo and then to Villa Camino de Santiago. Now you will have four kilometres left to get to Fuente de Cantos, now you will have to walk near the national road again. In this village is where the Spanish painter Francisco de Zurbarán was born; he was a famous painter of the Spanish Golden Age. Here we can see the Nuestra Señora de la Granada church, from the 16th Century, and the Romanesque archaeological rests of Los Castillejos. The local hostel is located in the old Convento de San Franciso convent.
