Vía de la Plata: Stage 17
La Calzada de Béjar – Fuenterroble de Salvatierra (20,2 km – 12,6 miles)
This stage has approximately 20 kilometres and it’s perfect to rest. Today you will be near Salamanca. In this stage you can taste the best ham in Spain the one that is from Guijuelo.
You will start this stage in La Calzada de Béjar and continue through the Valle de Sangusín valley. You will have to walk through tha asphalted road for a while but then you will return to a path to get to Valverde de Valdelacasa. You will have to continue through another road to walk up to Valdelacasa where you will find more services and where you can stop to have breakfast. There are just a few inhabitants, less than one hundred, nevertheless due to the Way you will find some services here.
After this stop, we will go on by a paved road but we will leave it on our left to get into some rural paths surrounded by centennial oaks and finding again old milestones. In this case, the 148th one. Then you will continue through the asphalted road a little bit to get to a path to the left to walk through some rural paths full of centenarian oak trees. Then you will have to return to the asphalted road once you get to Fuenterroble de Salvatierra where today’s stage concludes.

Bear in mind
The Way doesn’t crosses the village of Valdecasa but you just have to change a little bit your route to go through it; here you will find some services. This stage is easy for everyone.
