Tábara is a small town that belongs to the region known under the same name, Comarca de Tábara.
It is the first town where the pilgrim will rest after making the decision to leave the Camino Vía de la Plata and continue towards Santiago on the Camino Sanabrés. Here you will find the basic services so you will have no problems during your stay.

The main way to reach the town of Tábara is by road, from the city of Zamora by the national road N-631 you can reach this town directly, by the same road in the opposite direction it is also possible to arrive from Vigo.

What to see
Estatua de León Felipe
This is a statue located in the main square of Tábara in tribute to Felipe Camino Galicia de la Rosa, a great Spanish poet, a native of the municipality of Tábara itself, which stands out in addition to his own works, for having translated the work of Walt Whitman.

Iglesia de Santa María
It is a church declared a Historic-Artistic Monument since 1931 and dating from the late tenth century.
In its beginnings it was a large monastery of which today only the large tower of Mozarabic style is preserved and which is accessed by a large horseshoe arch on columns. The rest of the church underwent several later modifications until it was completed in 1761. As for its structure, it is divided into three naves separated by semicircular arches and a polygonal apse to the outside. It has only one accessible entrance and one walled entrance, both in Romanesque style.

Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
This 1559 building is popularly known as “The Convent” for having housed several religious orders: from the Hieronymite monks to the Dominicans.
It is attached to the house of the Marquis of Tábara, so it was used by the Marquis as a family chapel until the famous riot of Tábara. A few years ago, in 1991, it was discovered a natural access to a Crypt – Pantheon that was hidden under the transept of the temple and in which the tombs of the marquises were found.

Palacio Marqués de Tábara
Attached to the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, it stands out above all for its Renaissance-style façade. This has the coats of arms of the first Marquis of Tábara, Don Bernardino Pimentel y Enríquez, along with other coats of arms identifying the family.

Santuario de San Mamés
The Hermitage of San Mamés and San Blas is a small temple of which its date of construction is unknown, being able to correspond to a construction of the eighteenth century after analyzing its characteristics. It is located outside the town of Tábara, in the beautiful territory of the Sierra de La Culebra.
The access to the temple is quite difficult as it is located on top of a hill, but the journey will be worth it as the views and the environment itself will reward the effort.
