The town of A Gudiña is the first Galician town where the pilgrim will stop to rest, it belongs to the region of Viana, in the province of Ourense.

Pilgrims are advised to withdraw money in this town since in the next two stages there will be no ATMs, as they only present very basic services to sleep and eat.

How to get there

The main way to reach the municipality of A Gudiña is through the A-52 highway, which has its own exits, the 124 and 129. In addition, it is also possible to access the village by the national road N-525 and the regional road OU-533.

By public transport the most advisable is the train, there are several long-distance rail lines that stop in the village so it is connected to Puebla de Sanabria, Medina del Campo, Segovia, Avila, Madrid, Ourense, Santiago, Pontevedra, Salamanca, Valladolid and Palencia.

By bus it is possible to arrive from several points, the company Grupo Avanza has a regular line that connects the village with Madrid, the company Vibasa has two lines, Vigo-Barcelona and Vigo-Irun, both stop in the village. And finally, the company Anpian has lines that directly connect Galicia with French cities such as Paris or Tours.

Iglesia de San Pedro

The church of San Pedro was built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. In addition to the main facade, which has a bell tower on the top, the altarpieces of great interest and the old baptismal font that the temple houses inside.

Capilla de San Martiño

The Chapel of San Martiño presents a strong Galician rural Romanesque style as we can see in its rectangular apses. The temple was built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries with a structure of a single nave and rectangular apse.

Gastronomy

The gastronomy of the area of A Gudiña is based mainly on game and beef and river fishing. The most traditional dishes are the mushroom scrambled eggs, beef on the stone or clay plate, octopus “a feira”, meat pie, tuna, etc..
