The municipality of Tineo is very large in extension, has 44 parishes and 340 villages, but despite being all are very small as a whole the municipality is home to more than 10,000 people.
From the town include the Church of San Pedro and the museum of Sacred Art that houses inside.

How to get there
Getting to Tineo is easy thanks to the fact that it is served by several roads, the most important of which are the A-63 highway, the national N-634 and the AS-215, AS-216, AS-217, AS-218 and AS-15.
It is also possible to get there by bus thanks to the company ALSA, which offers daily lines to Oviedo and small towns around.

What to see
Iglesia de San Pedro
The church of San Pedro was built at the end of the 12th century with a single nave structure. This temple stands out for its western doorway, which has three pointed archivolts supported by six columns with capitals ornamented with animal and plant motifs.

Iglesia y Monasterio de Santa María la Real
The monastery of Santa María la Real de Obona, in Tineo, is a Cistercian monastery that stands out especially for its cloister, dating from the seventeenth century and never completed.
The church dates from the early thirteenth century, so it has a Cistercian Romanesque style. This temple has three naves separated by cruciform pilasters and a wooden roof.

Retablo de San Martín de Calleras
At the end of the 19th century the Marquis of Lema offered support to the family of the minister Santiago Fernández Negrete by contributing money to build the church of ”Calleas”. This building is adjusted to house some baroque altarpieces coming from the Cistercian monastery of Santa María de Lapedo, which were transported to the new church by oxen.

Monasterio e Iglesia de San Miguel de Bárcena
The monastery was founded in the first half of the tenth century by a very prestigious family of the time. It was nestled in a flat, wet and very close to the river, being the most important monastery in the municipality at that time.

Museo de Antigüedades Valentín Alba
This museum, also known as “El Ferreiro”, is located in the facilities of the great Hotel Palacio de Merás. It contains a large collection of paintings, photographs and antiques where works by local artists are also exhibited.

Museo del Oro
The Gold Museum is located in Navelgas, in the municipality of Tineo, a small village that has only three hundred inhabitants but retains a careful cultural heritage. The neighborhood of San Nicolas is the site where the museum is located, closely guarded by the old bridge of the town.

Palacio de Cabo el Río
It is a large mansion of the seventeenth century that was built on the remains of a palace of the Rodriguez de Tuña family that was once located in the same place. Regarding the structure, the coat of arms of the family stands out on the outside, while one of the remarkable historical facts is that in this house was born the father of General de Riego.

Palacio de los García
Built in 1520 but undergoing numerous later alterations and additions, the oldest surviving part is the late medieval circular tower. It was built with masonry and ashlar and served as the ancestral residence of the Tineo family.

Palacio de Merás
The Palace of Meras was built in 1525 in the center of Tineo, highlights the symmetry of the frontispiece, with two large towers on each side with a beautiful coat of arms crowning the building. This building after the thorough restoration to which it was subjected, houses inside a spectacular four-star hotel.

Palacio de Omaña
This is a mansion built in the sixteenth century but subsequently underwent numerous reforms that have altered, especially its facade. Built with masonry and ashlar, it is built around a central courtyard with columns and gathers the main decorative elements in the main facade, among which are several coats of arms made of stone.
