Hospitals used to be a kind of signal for pilgrims. They also used to put stakes to indicate the route for pilgrims, so they were able to get to the following shelter. During this descending we will find Montefurado closer and closer. This small village is inhabited by only one person, but it is very beautiful. Its Santiago shrine, also known El Pintu, was in ancient times a pilgrim hospital. People at the hospital would walk the way to guide the old pilgrims and avoid them get lost due to the intense snow. They would also place stakes to show the right way to the refuge. The name of this area is due to the tunnels caved by Romans to water the gold mines using the water of the rivers. After enjoying this wonderful village you will walk towards Texu de Lago, crossing before Sesto de la fuente and a little part of the AS-14. In this village you can stop and go to a bar or visit its church devoted to Santa María.
Before getting to the end of the stage you will have to go through Berducedo, a village that belongs to Allende, located 4 kilometres from Lago; it has some services and also some hostels. You will continue to La Mesa leaving Berducedo through a path that will take you also to Prima Madera, where you will have to turn left and get to a small forest before getting to the national road that will lead you to the village. After getting to La Mesa you can visit the Iglesia de Santa María de la Magdalena church that is surrounded by a wonderful landscape. It was built following the typical architecture in this area, so we can see that it has many typical things such as a slate roof. It is form the 17 century and it was built over a tumulus.
