There are approximately 20 kilometers between Golegã and Tomar. This city has an amazing castle and also a Renaissance convent. Moreover, we should highlight its typical festival called Tabuleiros on of the most famous in the country.
You will leave Golegã through the streets D. Afonso Henriques and Casal do Branco to get to Quinta da Cardiga, but before you should cross Casal do Branco and São Caetano. This house-palace used to be owned by the Templar Order, then it was given to the first Portuguese king Afonso I of Portugal. Visit this wonderful monument is a must.
You will continue through Ponte da Pedra in Cardiga and then you will go through Pedregoso and Quinta da Lameira, from this last place you will soon get to Vila Nova da Barquinha, a famous place due to its Castelo de Almourol castle. This national monument is located on a small island in the Tagus river, in Praia do Ribatejo. To get out of this village you should go through the streets called Pedregosa, Cardiga and Salgueiro Maia, then you should cross the trail rail to get to Moita Norte.
In the next roundabout, you will continue straight forward through Santos Gil to get to Atalaia. Once you get to the national road you will walk through its right side and leave the city center. You will have to turn right to get to a path that goes through the forest and that is surrounded by eucalyptus that will lead you to Val do Grou. A little bit after you will get again to an asphalted road, the national road and after crossing the streets Duque da Terceira, Dr. Avelino Ribeiro and Dr. Carmo N. Ferreira. After the second roundabout, you will have to go to Estaçao dos Caminhos de Ferro, parallel to the train rails to get to an old factory. Once you get there you have to turn right and a little bit after to the left, returning to the N-110 and going through it till you get to Tomar, the end of the stage.
