Get to know Redondela
Redondela is a small fishing village with lots of charm located in the middle of the Vigo estuary, behind the famous Rande Bridge. In it we can find a variety of both civil and religious heritage, highlighting the convent of Vilavella and several manors and stately homes.
As for its natural environment, under the Monte Penide find countless green areas and sandy beaches such as Arealonga, in the historic center of the town.
Redondela is a small fishing village with a lot of charm, located in the middle of the estuary of Vigo.

How to get there
The main way to reach the municipality of Redondela is using the roads N-555, N-55 or N-552, roads that connect Santiago, Pontevedra and Vigo with this town. It can also be reached from the AP-9, a highway that crosses Galicia from north to south, connecting all the towns along its route, including Redondela.
There is a train stop so it is very easy to get to Vigo, Santiago, A Coruña and from these major cities take a link to another place.
With regard to buses, there are three companies that make the journey from Redondela to Vigo, Pontevedra, Tui and all the towns in the province of Pontevedra.

What to see
Playa Punta
The Punta Beach is a semi-urban space of 2400 meters long belonging to the protected area of the Natura 2000 Network. This beach has parking, litter garbage cans, disabled access, showers and lifeguard service. Access by car is easy through two possible entrances, although it can also be accessed by bus or on foot.

Monte Penide
Mount Penide is located in the south of the Vigo estuary and its summit is 450 meters above sea level. On the plateau of Mount Penide different cultures settled through time so there are more than seventy archaeological remains discovered in their environment.

Jardines Alameda
The Alameda Park Gardens are located in the center of the town of Redondela, in the vicinity of the Town Hall building.
In these gardens you can appreciate several centenary trees, as well as camellias and other plants that arouse a great attraction. These gardens are also conditioned with the presence of playgrounds and in the central part of them stands a sculptural monument in honor of the writer Castelao, made by Xoan Piñeiro.

Iglesia de Santiago
The church of Santiago is located in the urban center of Redondela and dates back to the 15th century. However, the temple had to be rebuilt in the sixteenth century.
It consists of a single nave, which is covered thanks to ribbed vaults, and a chevet that is covered with a wonderful starry vault. On the exterior of the temple stands out its great façade, whose façade is linteled. On the upper part of the façade there is a large rose window and the façade is topped with the image of Santiago Matamoros.

Playa de Arealonga
The Arealonga Beach is located in Chapela and extends along 1520 meters. This space has public services such as showers, parking and litter garbage cans, and in terms of access has been enabled to facilitate the arrival to the beach both by car and on foot or by public transport.

Isla de San Simón
The island of San Simón is located in the waters of the estuary of Vigo and is part of the Natura 2000 Network and is also included in the Atlantic Bioclimatic Region. This island offers multiple possibilities, such as visiting its beautiful beaches (Arealonga, Chapela, Cesantes…), windsurfing and introduction to sailing, fishing, etc.

Viaducto Pedro Floriani
The Pedro Floriani viaduct, also known as the Madrid-Redondela viaduct, began operating in 1876, being an event of great social importance since King Alfonso XII himself inaugurated this section in 1877. This viaduct was used for almost one hundred years, being in 1971 when it ceased to be used. San Simón Island is located in the waters of the Vigo estuary and is part of the Natura 2000 Network and is also included in the Atlantic Bioclimatic Region. Convento de Vilavella
The convent of Vilavella also called “Conxunto de Vilavella” consists of a series of buildings and monuments located in Redondela and dating from the sixteenth century. Its construction began in the early sixteenth century and was completed in the middle of the same century.
<pIt is noteworthy that in the second half of the nineteenth century there was a fire in which part of the choir of this convent was lost and it was in 1931 when the convent was finally abandoned, agreeing five years later that the construction would be ceded to the State, but due to the Civil War it never happened.
<pUntil 2003 it remains empty, being from that year when it starts to be used as a wedding hall and restaurant.

Casa de la Torre
The house of the Tower in Redondela dates from the sixteenth century, being a civil construction that houses a museum. It is currently a hostel that is used by pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
