The municipality of Vilanova de Lourenzá is closely linked to the Camino de Santiago, is located on the route of the Camino del Norte and a variant of the very old road that is in disuse and forgotten which enters the Ria de Abres.

The town of Vilanova de Lourenzá can be reached by the A-8 highway and the national road N-634, in addition, secondary roads also reach the municipality.

Lourenzá can be reached by public transport thanks to daily bus lines that connect the town with Santiago de Compostela, Lugo, Madrid, Luarca, Bilbao, Avilés and Ponferrada, among other cities.
