Cadavedo is a small village in the municipality of Valdes, which has won the contest held in Asturias that proclaims the most beautiful village of the Autonomous Community. That is why you should stop at this place to admire carefully the idyllic landscapes that offers you.

How to get there

The easiest option to reach the village is to take the Cantabrian highway, the A-8 and at Villademoros turn off to follow the national road N-632a towards Cadavedo.

By public transport is also possible thanks to bus lines that connect the town with Luarca, Avilés, Oviedo and Ribadeo. It is also possible to arrive by train thanks to the railway line that connects Ferrol with Oviedo, this one has a stop in Cadavedo.

What to see

Playa de Cadavedo

The beach of Cadavedo, also known as La Ribeirona, belongs to the Protected Landscape of the West Coast. It is shaped like a shell, and is composed of pebbles and sand. In the summer months, it is a beach that has a large influx of people, so it has a parking lot. For a few years it has retained the blue flag, a distinction awarded by the European Union for having all kinds of facilities.

At the top of the pre-Roman castro, on the site where the castle was built in the Middle Ages, stands in 1741 the chapel of Carmen. The floor plan of the church is rectangular, with a semicircular triumphal arch. In its interior stands out the altarpiece made in 1755. In the central chapel is the beautiful image of the Virgen del Carmen, from the late eighteenth century flanked by statues of San Ramon Nonate and San Xosé, both also from the late eighteenth century.

Gastronomy

The gastronomy of the municipality of Valdés, to which Cadavedo belongs, is influenced by the products of the sea and the land, where the following recipes stand out: the Luarca style stew, rock fish, cabbage stew, faba beans and tripe. In addition, any seafood thanks to the quality in the area will be good, highlighting the spider crab, the lubrigante, the crab and crabs. Desserts include frixuelos, cottage cheese, casadillas, rice pudding and natas vaqueiras.
