This is an ancient tree that survived the extension works that were carried out in 1971, in the place where it is located, on the national road VI, thanks to the timely action of Victor Corral.
This artist locked himself inside a hole in the tree, cleaned it up and built a curious altar inside, with the sculpted figure of the Virgin of the Rosary, patron saint of Baamonde. With this curious action, the media picked up the news and, reached so much success and praise from the people that the chestnut tree could not be cut, so it is now a natural monument worthy of being visited.
<pThe sculptor, Victor Corral, continues to take care of it and, with the deterioration that the chestnut tree has been suffering over time, he had the idea of sculpting small animals, hands, etc.

Iglesia de Santiago de Baamonde
The Church of Santiago de Baamonde began to be built around the ninth century and was demolished during the Irmandiña Revolt. It was rebuilt again by order of the bishop of Mondoñedo at that time, named Pedro Arias Vaamonde.
It is a temple of Gothic style, although it also has Romanesque features in the decoration of the sculptures. Its floor plan is rectangular and was built in slate rubblework and granite ashlar masonry in corner, openings and facade, with slate shell gabled in the nave, four in the chancel and three waters in the sacristy. It is possible to observe buttresses in walls of the sides and in the facade. The Frontis has a door with two archivolts and a pointed window, which was reconstructed according to the old one. The interior of the temple stands out for housing sepulchers in the main chapel.

Torre de Camarasa
This tower, which no longer exists, was part of the fortress of Baamonde along with the wall. This fortress was owned by the Counts of Amarante and is believed to have been one of the oldest in the province.
From the wall remains are preserved and has a perimeter of 375 meters, while the tower is believed to have been demolished during the Revolt Irmandiña, although in the twentieth century you could still see some remains of it. The neighbors of the area used the material of the tower to build their houses.
