The municipality of Abadín is the first village that the pilgrim will encounter of the 18 that make up the region of “Terra Chá de Lugo”.

It is advisable that the pilgrim comes a little foreseen since in this small town there are hardly any services.

How to get there

The most advisable option to get to Abadín is to head towards Lugo and then take the LU-103 regional road towards Abadín, another option is to take the national road N-640 or the A-8 highway that connects the entire Cantabrian coast, although there are sections under construction.

It is also possible to arrive by public transport thanks to bus lines that connect the village with Lugo, A Coruña, Vilalba, and surrounding towns, mainly.

What to see

Área Recreativa de Gontán

Enjoy a wonderful environment of vegetation with various species of trees such as oaks, birches, willows, etc.. It also has places equipped to eat and a river beach for swimming.

Iglesia de Santa María de Abadín

It is a 12th century Romanesque temple located on a mound from which you can see an extensive cultivated area. It is a rectangular church built with granite ashlar walls and a slate gable and hipped roof. In its interior it contains a main chapel of the XVI century of Gothic Elizabethan style with an attached sacristy of later time. The highlight of the church is its facade with a semicircular arched doorway and large voussoirs on which rests a central rose window with tracery and two coats of arms on the sides
