Information
Get to know Zubiri
Zubiri is a small town in the Esteribar Valley, also known as the Valley of the Hunters.
This town owes its name to the medieval bridge that spans the course of the Arga River, known as the bridge of rabies due to a legend that tells that to cure the animals of the disease, they had to go around the central pillar of the bridge to be cured.
Location
How to get there
The main way to get to Zubiri is by the national road N-135, which links Pamplona with France. Another way to get there is the bus line of the company Artieda, which connects Pamplona with Zubiri daily, except Sundays and holidays.
For the days that the regular line does not operate, the most used alternative is the cab or rental car.

What to see
Puente de la Rabia
This medieval-looking bridge has a curious history following its construction. Faced with the impossibility of placing the central pillar, the engineers in charge of this work, decided to dig into the river bank to give it more depth. Legend has it that at that moment they found the remains of Santa Quiteria, protector against rabies. From that moment on, it became popular the belief that the animals that surrounded the pillar were healed of this disease. That is why a multitude of neighbors from neighboring towns came daily to see it with their own eyes, acquiring great importance in the seventeenth century.
Today, this pillar with supposed healing properties has the appearance of two semicircular eyes and polygonal cutwaters. In addition, under the bridge the Arga River and the Jacobean route cross for the first time, thus giving great relevance to the whole area.

Quinto Real
The name Quinto Real comes from the Middle Ages, specifically from the thirteenth century. It was at this time that the kings of Navarre received the fifth part in concept of exploitation of these pastures and mountains.
It is a large beech forest that expands over 3,209 hectares and is full of many streams among which live many animal species such as fallow deer, wild boar, roe deer, etc.
.
The Arga river crosses the entire area from north to south, also with large areas of yew, rowan, maple and also oak, boxwood and holly.

Mirador de Usetxi
The Usetxi viewpoint can be accessed by a hiking route enabled for this purpose, which begins in Usetxi, the village that gives its name to both places. The route begins at a clearly marked crossroads where you have to continue on the left, bordering the mountain through an oak grove. Later we will reach a greener area, a place from where we glimpse the Puerto de Egozkue.
Continuing along the path, before embarking on this steep slope we pass through a gate and then next to a watering place. Now it is time to ascend to the top of the pointed summit of Bartxueta, previously encountering several crossroads, but all of them with adequate signage of the Local Trail. Then we will cross a stream, place where you have to turn left, and finally finding the valley that borders Etsain.
Once you admire the beautiful views offered by the place you should take the old road to Etsain to return to the starting point.

Iglesia de San Esteban Protomártir
The church of San Esteban Protomártir is located in the center of the town of Zubiri, a place of passage for pilgrims on the French Way. This temple was built in more recent times over a previous one, demolished because of the Carlist War.
