The town of Saint Jean Pied de Port is located eight kilometers from the border; it is famous for its houses with orange roofs and white facades between which flows the river Nive leaving magnificent stone bridges in its path.

Also, this beautiful village was part of the lower Navarre, being its capital in 1512.

How to get there

The main way to get to Saint Jean Pied de Port, starting point of the French Way, is from the city of Pamplona, which can be reached by plane, train (with several daily connections to Barcelona and Madrid), bus or private vehicle. Once there we must take the N-135, now known as D-933, without turning off at any time.

Another option to reach Saint Jean Pied de Port is from San Sebastian, starting from San Juan de la Luz and taking first the GI-120 to the junction with the AP-8 (A-63). Once there, we must continue to the D-918 to reach our destination.
