Get to know Puente la Reina

The town of Puente la Reina is a small village that still preserves the essence of the Camino de Santiago and where it is very easy to find a large number of pilgrims, since it is the point where those coming from Roncesvalles and those coming from Somport cross.

At present, the economic and social activity of this small town revolves around this Jacobean route.

Location

How to get there

Puente la Reina is very close to the cities of Pamplona and Logroño, which is why it is best to arrive first to one of the two cities by car or bus and then, if you come by car, connect with the A-12 freeway linking the two cities and turn off at the Puente la Reina exit. If, on the other hand, you prefer public transport, there is a bus company, Estellesa, which covers the Pamplona-Logroño line, stopping at Puente la Reina, on a daily basis and with great frequency.

If you want to come from France, this company has a connection with San Sebastian and Irun, so you can connect with a foreign line.

What to see

Belenas

The Belenas are narrow passages for public and private use that link several streets or courtyards in order to connect narrow and long streets of Puente la Reina. These streets are communicated both traditionally and subway, the latter being known by the name of belenas.

Today, these passages give Puente la Reina an undeniable and unparalleled medieval flavor. All the Belenas have their charm but the most beautiful one is located a few meters after the main square on the right hand side.

Casa del Vínculo

Torreones de Entrada a la Calle Mayor

At the beginning of the Calle Mayor and after crossing the well-known Romanesque bridge, there are two towers that mark the entrance to the municipality of Puente la Reina. These towers belong to the ancient wall that protected the town during the Middle Ages. As for its structure, it is worth mentioning its pointed semicircular arch shape.
