What to see
Puente del Miño
The Miño bridge dates back to the second century, it was built because there was an urgent need for a passage to cross the Miño River. At the time when the route of the Camino de Santiago was built, it was diverted by it, since it was the only way to cross the river without having to use boats. Later, in 1962, the Belesar reservoir was built and a new bridge was also built.

Parque Manuel de Blas
The Manuel de Blas park is a landscaped space with a great diversity of tree species and spectacular views over the Portomarín reservoir, on the Miño river. It is worth mentioning the fountain that we can find in the middle of the park.

Parque Antonio Sanz
The Antonio Sanz park is a natural space with an extensive forest and vegetation. It forms a rest area, an area for walking or reading, equipped with granite benches and an ornamental fountain.

Parque Agustín del Río
The Agustín del Río Park is a recreational area located next to the urban center where we can find swimming pools, a fountain, several crossings, a playground for children and beautiful views over the Miño river next to the Belesar dam. There is also a picnic area where you can sunbathe and swim in the river Miño.

Iglesia de San Pedro
The construction of the Church of San Pedro dates back to the tenth century, although it was founded in 1182 by the bishop of Lugo, Rodrigo II, as can be seen in the inscription on the front of the temple.

Iglesia de San Nicolás
The church of San Nicolás, former church of San Juan, of late Romanesque style, was built between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century. This temple had under its control the bridge that crossed the Miño river and the care of the pilgrims’ hospital, for this reason it has the appearance of a fortress. It was restored stone by stone in the place it occupies today, when the Belesar reservoir completely covered the two neighborhoods that formed the old village of Portomarín (San Nicolás and San Pedro).

Escalinata y Capela das Neves
The Portomarín staircase is located in front of the fountain, which is built in granite and leads to the Chapel of Virxe das Neves.
