History / Culture
What to see
Secadero de Congrios
This is an artisanal production method and formed by crossed stakes where the conger eels are hung, they are the only ones working today in Spain. After the fish has been washed and prepared, the conger eels, full of strategically placed openings, are left to dry and cure in the wind, often at the mercy of the weather. In the past there were two more, Os Cascóns and A Pedriña.

Piedra del Timón
Linked to the legend of the Virgin, its name is due to its shape, as it simulates the rudder of a ship. While Christianization took place in these lands, the set of stones were of great importance for the monks of the Monastery of Moraime. It is from this moment when several Christian legends began to become famous, which aimed to reduce the spread of pre-Christian rituals.

Piedra de Abalar
Legend has it that the town of Muxía is associated with a conglomerate of stones located in the Punta de la Barca and with the magical and religious cult on these stones.
The Abalar Stone, with a perimeter of 30 meters, is one of the most peculiar of the whole set. Of the many peculiarities of this stone predominates the divinatory function, since this was used as an instrument of justice to determine the guilt or innocence of people who were being tried for some reason.

Piedra dos Cadrís
Shaped like a kidney or iliac bone, the Piedra dos Cadrís represents, according to legend, the sail of the ship where the Virgin Mary manifested herself. Its importance is due to the existing myth about its healing properties for the kidneys and rheumatism, however, the disease will only subside or disappear if it is passed 9 times under the stone.

Paseo Marítimo de Muxía
Running along the entire coastline, the promenade of Muxía stretches from the village of A Cruz to the fishing port of this town. In it is the image of Gonzalo Lopez, illustrious poet who praised the beauty of this land.

Iglesia de Santa María
This church stands majestically on the rocks of Mount Corpiño. Donated by Pope Innocent III to the monastery of Carracedo, this temple was built around 1203 following a mainly Romanesque architectural style. It consists of a single nave with wooden roofs.

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Barca
The Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Barca, due to the deterioration suffered and although the first document that is preserved of the Sanctuary dates from 1544, it is believed that dates from the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Its reconstruction was spread over several years, until in 1719 the current temple was finally erected.

Hórreo de San Martiño de Ozón
The hórreo of San Martiño de Ozón is approximately 27 meters long and is one of the largest constructions of its kind in the entire community. Made of granite material, it is supported by circular feet and vines. It is located in the conglomerate of San Martiño de Ozón and in the past it was here where the rents that came from the collection of the monastery were stored.
