This is a stage of a little more than thirty kilometres, in which we will intersperse sections by road and forest tracks, until we reach Puebla de Sanabria and its characteristic castle of the Condes de Benavente, famous for its keep, popularly known as “El Macho” and the main part of the fortress.
Recommendation Pilgrim
It should be noted that at this stage, we will only find services in the towns of Asturianos, Palacios de Sanabria and Puebla de Sanabria, so it is convenient to buy supplies For those who do not find themselves with the strength to continue to Mombuey, you can stay overnight in the hostels of San Salvador de Palazuelo and Asturianos. This stage does not pose any additional difficulties for cyclists or people with reduced mobility. This is an easy stage for everyone.

Itinerary
Km 0 – Inicio
From the centre of Mombuey, we bid farewell to the parish church looking for the N-525, but without crossing it, continuing parallel to it. Approximately a couple of kilometres later, we will enter a path between trees that begins on the right hand side and then cross a bridge towards Valdemerilla. Following the Príncipe de Asturias street, we will arrive at the Plaza de la Constitución, from where we will connect with the road that will take us to Cernadilla, just three kilometres away and where we will be able to make a stop next to the Cristo hermitage. After that, we turn left into the church of the Purification, and continue walking to San Salvador de Palazuelo and its excellent bell tower, which we can climb to appreciate the views if we still have strength. We continue along forest tracks, reaching a point where we come across the road, which we cross and zigzag back between local roads and highways to Entrepeñas. Following this trend, we will walk along forest paths and secondary roads, crossing the highway again and leaving the national highway in the municipality of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. The route runs through the town of Asturianos, but there is the option of continuing on the road and then turning right into another asphalted road to Palacios de Sanabria. Those who choose to continue towards Asturianos will be able to visit the church of the Assumption and later connect with the N-525. Just past the hermitage of this town, we crossed a road to return to dirt roads surrounded by century-old trees. Before reaching Remesal, we will have to cross another road again, always with great caution. Otero de Sanabria is only three kilometres away, so we will soon reach it, as well as the temple of Saint Tomas Apóstol. We must not lose heart, as the end of the stage is just under six thousand meters away, passing first through the town of Triufé and going out again to the national road, to finally enter Puebla de Sanabria. This municipality stands out for its urban centre, which houses numerous architectural treasures such as the castle of the Counts of Benavente, a 15th century fortress that lived through the wars with Portugal in the 18th century.
