About this stage
We are at the gates of Santiago, less than twenty kilometres away, crossing the Santa Lucía de Vixoi hermitage first, we will enter the city of Compostela via Ponte do Sar, before arriving at Platerías square, where the Cathedral stands in front of us on its back side, we only have to go around it to reach the Obradoiro square and put an end to our route….

This short stage will allow pilgrims to enjoy their afternoon walking along the streets of Santiago. The bad thing is that as in many big cities, we will enter through monotonous residential and industrial areas

Km 0 – Inicio
From Outeiro, we go out to a track between the mountains of Vedra, that we will cross during approximately two kilometers, always following straight ahead. On reaching an asphalted road and next to a crossroads, we enter the municipality of Boqueixón, in the parish of Lestedo. Turn right on asphalt and then, again in the same direction, following the shell of a boundary stone to Rubial.
In this town, we will pass in front of a manor house and another crossroads, just as we pass it, we turn left in search of a road that we cross and follow for the next few metres. At one point, we will save the train tracks by a pass enabled for this purpose and later by another bridge to access Sergude. The route takes a slight detour from here, since at the height of a crossroads we must turn left and, after about one hundred and fifty metres, turn right again towards the place of A Gándara, turning our backs on the Sacro peak, one of the most famous in the whole of Galicia. There are legends about it from immemorial times, especially the one that tells how this place was the one that hosted the first burial of the Apostle James. Following the yellow arrows and crossing several intersections, we reach the AC-960, where we continue to the left in search of the national in this case, in the place of A Susana. After a few turns, we reach a picnic area, where we cross under the N-525 and then cross a stream. From here, we continue to the left along an uphill path, having to turn off again, a little further up on the right, towards the place of Cañoteira de Marrozos. Once again, we crossed the railroad track over a bridge and began to descend abruptly to the left. In the middle of the slope we turn first to the right and then to the left, crossing once again the roads and reaching the end of the road to Vixoi, which already belongs to the town hall of Santiago de Compostela. Here we can take a short break at the Santa Lucia hermitage and then continue on to Piñeiro, passing under the motorway and on the train tracks, right in the place of Angrois, which is famous for the serious railway accident of 2013. Once in this town, we continue along a cobbled path, known as the Sar roadway, where we can appreciate the peaks of the Cathedral in the distance, giving us the courage to continue. Through the Ponte do Sar, we go up the rúa do Sar and then the Castron Douro, always on a positive slope. Good things wait! We enter the historic centre through the only door that is still preserved today of the old wall: Porta de Mazarelos. From here, we quickly reach the University Square and Caldeirería Street, where we turn left onto Xelmírez Street and into the famous Praterías Square, which owes its name to the historical existence of numerous goldsmith workshops since the Middle Ages. Before us stands the majestic Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where we will forget all the accumulated fatigue and a smile will be drawn on our faces for having successfully completed the Way.
