About this stage
After leaving Santarém you will continue your way next to the Tagus river and go through Pombalinho where you will get to the national road to get to Golegã. This village is famous because it was the place where José Saramago, writer, dramatist and journalist, was born and also because here it is celebrated the famous Feira Nacional do Cavalo (National Horse’s fair).

There are no small villages with establishments where you can rest or buy snacks, so you should everything you need in Santarém, before starting. This is an easy stage for everyone.

Km 0 – Inicio
Today you will start exactly in the same place where you leave your way yesterday, so you will return to the road and a little bit after you will have to cross the train rail to get to calçada da Junqueira that will lead you directly through all the city of Santarém. If you start in the city center you will have to follow all the indications to get to the start and then to get to the entrance of the way that will lead you through all the city of Santarém. The, after crossing the Rua de Pedro Santarén street you will get to Largo da Misericórdia. Once you get there you will have to turn right through the Avenida António dos Santos and then through the streets Travessa das Capuchas, Braancamp Fire and also known as Graça, here it is located a church called Santo Agostinho da Garça.
Then you should go through Conselheiro Figueiredo Leal and 5 de Outubro. Then going through Porta de Santiago you will get to a path that will lead you to the river. After crossing the Igreja de Santa Cruz church you will turn to Rua de Lourençode Almeida and then you will cross a bridge called Alcouce that is from the 14 century; this bridge will lead you to Vale de Figueira and finally to the Tagus. Going through rural roads and crop fields you will cross some quintas (a piece of land to farm on or to sow on. It could also be a rustic property in the countryside with a house or cottage improvement, a country home, or an orchard surrounded by a circle of trees inside a built property) such as Cruz da Légua and Boavista to get to Igreja de São Domingos. A few meters after you will have to turn right to go through Monteiro to Pombalinho. There are 10 kilometers to get there.
Once you get to the national road that links Reguengo with Porto das Pereiras you will turn left and then to the right to get to Campo do Pombalinho and to the remains of Quinta do Rei. Then you will continue through the streets Cernada da Barca, Calcunha, Santo António and Largo da Praça to get tot Azinhaga. Then you should go through the Misericórdia street where the old hospital and the hostel are located. Then you will get to Espirito Santo street where you can visit the Igreja Matriz church and the Capela do Espírito Santo chapel. This village belongs to Golegã and it is where the writer, journalist and dramatist José Saramago was born. Then you will go through the N-365 to get to Golegã.
