Finally after covering kilometres, from the first stage, hand in hand with the Aragon River, it is time
to abandon it and let it follow its course while the pilgrim must continue along the path that leads to
the welcoming village of Izco. During the route you will be able to appreciate the incredible views of
the valley of the river Irati.
Recommendation Pilgrim
Keep an eye on the road to be able to locate possible problems that you may encounter on your
pilgrimage, but do not lose sight of the incredible landscapes that may be presented to you along
the pilgrimage route. This stage does not pose any additional difficulties for cyclists or people
with reduced mobility.
Route
Itinerary
Km 0 ‧ Sangüesa
On the left side of the Calle Mayor we see a bridge that we must cross, right next to the church of
Santa María la Real, over the river Aragón. After this, it is time to say goodbye to our travelling
companion from the beginning of the route, the river Aragón, which will continue its way southwards
until it flows into the Ebro, and we take the Liédena road on our right. At this point we must
decide whether to continue towards Rocaforte or continue towards Liédena and Lumbier, in the latter
case we can rejoin the main road further on before reaching Izco.
We continue to the Alto de Aibar, leaving a wind farm on our left, located in a small mountain
range. We then continue straight on along a path and pass under the NA-534 road, going up to the
right until we reach the Alto de Aibar.
We continue along a wooded path, with the Alto de Loiti on our right, until we reach the village of
Izco. Once we leave this village, we continue along a straight gravel road until we reach the next
village.
Km 27,2 ‧ Monreal
Following a similar path, straight ahead, we reach the point of decision, before reaching Salinas de
Ibargoiti, whether to cross to the left to cross a bridge over the river Elortz or to enter the
village and take the path to the left of the local church, crossing the river Elortz. Either of the
two options will lead us to a path with woodland in the direction of Monreal.
