The municipality of Monesterio is located right on the border of Badajoz with Seville, in the enclave of Sierra Morena.
It is located at the critical point of antiquity on the Via de la Plata, this point is known as Puerto de las Marismas. It was the most conflictive, since at that point was divided the north and south of the Peninsula and had to pay the right of portazgo.

How to get there
The easiest way to get to Monesterio is by road. Once you get to Mérida you have to take the E-803 road to get directly to the municipality of Monesterio. Another option is from Seville by the same road in the opposite direction. Or from Cordoba by the national road N-432.
By bus it is possible to arrive from several points of Spain, such as Cáceres or Seville. These routes are covered by the company Alsa, which also offers other lines with the surrounding towns. From Madrid it is possible to arrive thanks to a railway line.
