What to see
Monasterio de Santa Marta de Tera
The church of Santa Marta is surrounded by large tombs built of marble in shades ranging from white to black. The building is still preserved today, dating from 1077 but it was not until 1085 when Alfonso VI established an abbey and a large monastery was created. Already in the XII a fire destroyed part of the nave and the old monastery, only the Romanesque church was preserved, which has a Latin cross plan with rectilinear chancel.
